Description
The “Zerezeanu” celebration (St Tryphon the Madman’s Day, also known as Vineyard Feast), takes place every year, on February 1st and is an ancient custom with Bulgarian roots. On this occasion the vine is consecrated for fruitfulness, not to be affected by hail and dew, and so that the owners may not be affected by poverty. A bottle of wine dug in the ground last autumn is dug up by Zarezan and the world is having fun with meat and fried sausages, music and drinks.
